The link between climate change and the international community
At present, the global society is so closely linked that the influence of one country can have a greater impact on many other countries. It's all up to us whether this will benefit us or not. Millions of people in vulnerable communities around the world, including small islands and least developed countries, inland countries and Brazil, India and China, are suffering from climate change even though it has never provided the cause of climate change. Climate change, which has been caused by advanced countries due to unreasonable development and excessive waste of resources, has had a greater impact on other countries. So in order to protect the international community, we have to solve climate change.
The impact of the rise in global temperature
When 1 degree rises, long-lasting droughts in the western U.S. reveal layers of sand under greasy land, lose farmland and residence, and prices skyrocket due to shortages of groceries. Rare animals and plants become extinct because they cannot adapt to changes in their environment.
When 2 degrees rises, half of the carbon dioxide is absorbed by the ocean, making the ocean's environment worse. Even the mid-way area will suffer from heat waves. As glaciers melt, sea levels rise and coastal cities sink.
When 3 degrees rises, warming gains momentum. The Amazon rainforest, the largest rainforest on the planet, collapses, and there are major problems with food production in coastal areas. As a result, we start the 'national movement' due to the famine.
When 4 degrees rises, Antarctica's glaciers collapse completely. Coastal cities sink completely and inland areas become dry. In Russia and Eastern Europe, there is no snow, permafrost melts, and methane is produced in large quantities.
When 5 degrees rises, the Arctic glaciers also melt completely. The capital market collapses as humanity is chased by disasters. The conflict of working as a refugee arises and the war begins. With methane hydrate being ejected, warming accelerates and everyone's struggle to secure food takes place.
When 6 degrees rises, a mass eruption of methane hydrate causes a large number of species to become extinct. The generated hydrogen sulfide destroys the ozone layer and even the barely surviving animals die. The annihilation of all life progresses.
Carbon dioxide emission restriction system
Because of these risks, the country is putting in place a system.
The total limit trading system is the issuance of a limited number of permits with the right to emit a set amount of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases.
The carbon tax is the government's direct tax on carbon dioxide emissions.
The difference between the two is that the total volume-restricted trading system sets a limit on the amount of carbon that can be emitted and the carbon tax is taxed on a certain amount. What they have in common is that it has the effect of reducing carbon dioxide emissions in that it shapes the price of carbon emissions and boosts consumers and businesses to reduce emissions.
Proponents of the total limit trading system argue that 'taxes seem to be more valuable if they are free of charge, compared to the benefits that are easily reduced once introduced and will be lost due to strict regulations.' The argument of the proponents of the carbon tax is that 'the tax system is a mature and universal system, and there is no experience with the international total volume limit trading system.'
Then... What would be better?
If you're not sure, the carbon tax will be better if you look at the claims related to the carbon tax. But if you're a country like the U.S., which has a strong antipathy to new taxes and can easily accept the trading system for auctions, it's desirable to choose a total volume-restricted trading system.
